Shout outs for today ...

Todays shout outs go to the few individuals who made my errand running so enjoyable this morning.
First .... Dan at Kinkos. Thanks for trying to bind my book even when your co-workers said it was impossible. I now have an awesome summer journal! And I say forget what society says. If you really want to carry a man bag to hold all your stuff you should be able to!
Second ... Colin is cool! (that is what his nametag said) at Sonic for making me one of the best DCs with lime I have had in awhile.
Third ... the man in the produce section who answered my questions about apples and then asked me if I had ever considered dating older men. George you kind of creeped me out with the last part, but I did appreciate the info on my favorite honey crisps.
Fourth ...  to Coldplay for singing their new song to me as I drove from place to place. I am obsessed with it!

All my errands are done and I can now sit down with a yummy lime popsicle and read a good book. Happy Saturday to all!

Run, Freedom, Run!

In preparation for the Tony awards I have been going through old clips to put on this years dvd. This is one of my favs ... especially because it has my broadway boyfriend Hunter Foster in it. Love him! Especially love his last note!

I hate Nellie Olsen!

Tonight I did some mending. That's right mending. I know, right? You would think I was sitting by the fire listening to Pa play the fiddle while watching Half Pint and Mary play with their corn husk dolls and shushing Jack when he growled at the wolves outside.

But I had Friends on in the background. I don't think they had Ross and Rachel out on the prairie.

Fierce

It cracks me up that Whoppi Goldberg has picked my fav Christian to design her outfits for the TONY awards. Really? Have you ever seen her on the view? She wears stretch pants and oversized mens button down shirts with sneakers! Can't wait to see her look like a fierce hot tranny mess ...

Memorial Day Celebrations

I know you may be shocked and awed when I admit this, but until the last few years I did not realize that Memorial Day was for visiting the graves of loved ones. I guess it is because my family doesn't live anywhere near where we have family buried. The last few years I have lived about 1/2 mile from the Provo cemetery. I have been amazed at how filled it is on Memorial day weekend. It is a large and very pretty place and it looks AMAZING covered in flowers.

Tonight my roomie and I decided to take our walk time and go down to the cemetery and look around. It was really neat. We found President Hinckleys parents and a lot of really cool pioneer graves. We both were touched when we found a family plot that had 7 small headstones. As we read them we realized that this sweet mother had 7 stillborn babies in 10 years. As I sat and pondered what this woman must have gone through I noticed small little plastic baskets with a few flowers in them at each headstone. All the babies were born in the late fifties and early sixties. I was touched that this mother was still coming to place flowers on her childrens' graves. Then I turned to look at the parents and realized that the mother had passed and that it was this cute little old dad who was still coming to tend to his families graves. My roommate and I were brought to tears as we stood there. I thought about the love  and dedication of this sweet husband and father. It filled my heart with gratitude for families and for the knowledge of the gospel in my life.

Happy Day!

I was shocked and thrilled tonight when my boyfriend won American Idol! I really thought that Archuletta had it in the bag! I screamed outloud ... I know kind of pathetic and joyous all at the same time! I know you have all been waiting for my thoughts and musings about the finale so here goes.
1. I loved hearing the ladies sing one of my fav songs ... Last Dance with Donna Summers. But did anyone notice Seaacrest trying to bust out some break dance moves? I got the SERIOUS D.O.C.s (For those of you not around me enough to know my lingo, the DOCs are the Donny Osmond Chills. You know when you watch Donny and he thinks he is funny, but he is not and you get that uncomfortable butt clenching awkward feeling. Those are the DOCs.) Let's hope that was Seacrests last dance!

2. What was Paula wearing? And why does she ALWAYS have to stand up? It bugs!

3. I love Jordin Sparks just as much as the next person, but I did not enjoy the life size Barbie dress she was sporting. She needs to fire whoever lied to her and told her it looked good.

4. I loved the Gladys and Pips number. I have the biggest crush on Jack Black! I was laughing so hard.

5. I think George Michael needs to give a great big thank you shout out to Eli Stone for ressurrecting his career. (And I can't wait until that show comes back!)
6. My two favorite quotes of the night came from my roommate Courtney.
"Why do people wave their arms back and forth in the air? It makes me SO angry!"
And when we were talking about whether we thought Archuletta would serve a mission for our church or if it would be hard to find a place where he would not be mobbed she answered "If Prince Harry can go to war, David can go on a mission." Point well taken Court.

All in all it was a great night and I was very pleased with the results. Now for the best show ... SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE!

American Idol Producers

Dear American Idol Producers,

I was very disappointed in you last night. Where was the gospel choir? I have been a faithful AI viewer since day 1 and I have never seen a finale showdown without a gospel choir. You did have Rueben Studdard, but he doesn't count for a whole choir!

Sincerely,

Very Disappointed Viewer

I am SO sick of the $5 foot long commercials. I can't handle it. It is almost as bad as the Quiero Taco Bell commercials. I am over it! I vow here and now to not eat at Subway until they quit running the commercial. I DO NOT want a $5 foot long!

Everything I need to know I learned in kindergarten ...

Today a friend and I were discussing all the great (and not so great) teachers we had throughout the years. I reminisced about my kindergarten teacher Ms. Myers. She had one arm and taught us how to tie our shoes ... i thought it was pretty amazing. I also remember making an art project out of aluminum cans she had brought from home. I remember contemplating why so many of them were Budweiser cans and being worried I would get in trouble for bringing a beer can home. (Don't worry ... we covered the cans with squares of brightly colored tissue paper and that weird glue/borax concoction that was so big back in the elementary school days.)

But sadly Ms. Myers fell out of my good graces when she sent me to time out for riding the silver tricycle too recklessly while singing Tina Turners' "Whats Love Got To Do With It" at the top of my lungs. She just didn't appreciate my talent. Our relationship was never quite the same after that.

Give My Regards to Broadway

It is that time of year again ...  time for the annual extravaganza ... the TONY AWARD PARTY!!! That is right. I love it! And this year we have people coming from New York and California to attend. That's right ... it is that good! So check out the nominees and start making your predictions. I'm will follow soon with mine. I was right last year about Christine Ebersole. Who will it be this year?

This Can Always Make Me Smile

Today was NOT a good day. So as I was trying to think of something to cheer me up I thought of this video. It can always make me laugh! It combines so many of my loves : How I Met Your Mother, Megan Mullaly, my boyfriend Neil Patrick Harris (who doesn't have a crush on Doogie Howser, M.D.?), and musical theater.

It reminds me of things my friends in high school used to do. Yes, I was a drama geek ... shocking, I know. We did these kind of things at parties on the weekend. I have the home videos to prove it!

Enjoy!

For He's a Jolly Good Fellow ...

Today the shout out goes to my brother Dave. He came and rescued me from my lil predicament. Today I did something that I don't believe I have ever done before. I locked my keys in my car! So frustrating! So thanks bro for leaving your warm dinner and coming to save me. You're the best!

My Latest Obsession ...

I have decided to become a little more green in my life. I have become a little more earth conscious in the last few months and have decided to try and make a few changes at a time.

One of the first changes I decided to make was to quit using plastic water bottles. I used to buy flats of them at Costco. I always had half empty bottles in my purse and car. I was throwing away SO much plastic.

So I invested in a FABULOUS water bottle. It is a SIGG water bottle made of lightweight aluminum. It keeps my water cold, doesn't make it taste like plastic, and I have quit throwing so much plastic away. So Al Gore I am trying ... one baby step at a time.

So Happy!

All of my dreams are coming true! Today my man John Edwards endorsed Barack. Now if only I could talk them into running on the same ticket ...

Really?

I was very disturbed tonight by images seen on American Idol. They showed David Archuleta (a local Utah boy) being greeted by the mayor of his city.

Forward to about 1:22 to see the mayor. Really ? Is that really what we want people to think about Utah? That shirt? That mustache? I can NOT handle it! You'd think he would have a stylist that would help him look appropriate when representing! (PS ... I cannot handle that in the letter he read from Paula she signed it Forever Your Girl... for the love.)

On a lighter note I fell in love tonight. Apparently, I am easily won over by Aerosmith and a small orchestra of strings. So David Cook.... tonight you won my heart.

Granted he was a little pitchy at parts, but then there were moments of brilliance. I finally have someone I want to watch .... and next week is the finale! Such is life ...

Creepy!

I was looking up softball on Google and this came up! What the heck? What is this and what does it have to do with softball?! CREEPY!!!

Willkommen to my Decalage ...

My roomies and I decided we needed a lil R&R and left to spend the weekend at the Zermatt Resort and Spa in Midway.

It was fabulous! We had facials at the spa that were heavenly! We swam in the pool, sat in the hot tub, and did some great shopping at the outlets in Park City.

We found the most AMAZING restaurant called The Snake Creek Grill in Heber. The food was delish ... a little pricey... but worth every penny. We also met the most hilarious Englishman named Andy who was selling decorative pillows and candles in a little shop with his cat. He was a riot and brought us serious entertainment. Who knew there was such great treasures in Heber?!

It was amazing to be only 20 minutes from home and yet feel like we were miles away. It was nice to escape from life for a little while. Sometimes you just need a little break ...

We came home relaxed and refreshed. Mission Accomplished!

Who Let The Dogs Out?

Listen ... It is a well known fact that I do not enjoy the animal population of the world. I don't enjoy the smells and I do not think they are mans' best friend. I think they have finally figured it out and they have stuck the dog mafia on me.

In the last 3 days I have had to stop 4 times ... count it... 4 TIMES for dogs running out in front of my car. I have had to slam on my brakes all 4 times in order to not kill Fido. Everything in my car has been thrown into the front. I even lost my precious Route 44 Diet Coke with Lime during one of the fast brakes!

I feel like finally the dogs of the world have had it with my insensitivity and have sent out the word through Pongo and Perdita and their mutt cronies. They are out to get me! I feel like Lorelai did on the video below when the cat mafia started to haunt her life.

Today one of my coworkers brought her dachshund in. She asked if I wanted to pet it. I kindly declined, but said from afar "Oh, she's cute though" in my fake-pretend-I-like-animals voice. I swear that dog smirked at me.

I guess I am going to have to feed a stray or save one from the pound to get back in their good graces. Can I just sign Oprahs puppy mill petition? Or maybe walk a lap around Pet Smart and wave at the puppies in the cages?

They really are after me ...

Thank Goodness for You Tube!

I have a confession to make. I've had my tivo set to record Reading Rainbow for the past few months. Why you might ask? Because I have been obsessed with finding one episode that I remember so fondly from my childhood. Well tonight I found it on You Tube!

I loved this scene as a kid and can still sing the words to this day! After seeing it I wanted to have teamwork ...  and a shirt with a letter on it! I remember acting it out in my bedroom and pretending I was the stressed out waitress. (Shocking, I know) I miss the good old days of Levar Burton (pre-Star Trek). I miss watching a book come to life. I miss having weird over confident children share their favorite books with me (why were they always so awkward?!). It was definitely one of the best shows of my childhood. But you don't have to take my word for it ...

Happiness for today ...

I love the smell of rain on the pavement. Why is that? Today at work as it rained we opened the doors and just let the fabulous smell waft in. It is one of lifes simple joys that makes me happy.

Shout out ...

I just have to give a shout out to my man Barack for his win last night. As Tim Russert put it last night " We finally know who our Democratic nominee is". Happy Day!

New Summer Do...

I needed to post a picture of my cute nephew Corbin and his new summer hair do. It's true... it's all shaved off! He looks cute, but so grown up!

Happy Birthday Mia!

Today is my nieces' 2nd birthday so I decided to post some pics from her party this last weekend.

I found a woman who makes the cutest tutus. This is what I got her for her birthday. So adorable! (Sorry for the sideways pic... I am still learning how to work things!)
She also got a giraffe tunnel which she loved!
My sister made a fabulous Candy Land cake for the celebration.

We had a great time celebrating together!
