One of my favorite "Corbinisms" is when he asked "How come no one hits like Gaston?". Good question, Corb, good question.

Out Of The Mouths of Babes
Tonight my nephew asked me, "Missa, can you get me a drink to wet my whistle?". Where does he come up with this stuff?

It's Not Easy Being The Only Boy
I love my brother. He knows way more show tunes then he cares to know ... one of the hazards of being raised with 3 sisters. He hides behind his baseball loving exterior (I'm pretty sure he is trying to become Jimmy Fallon in "Fever Pitch" ... but with his love for the Padres), but I love that every once in a while he will bust out in a show tune with me. It just so happened that this time I caught him on film.
So here is Dave watching Corbins' performing group (of which I am going to have my own for my children one day ... I'm talking sequins and kids singing "Puttin' On The Ritz ... but that is for another post).
My You Tube Obsessions ...
I love this kid! It cracks me up! He has a ton of vids that keep me very entertained.
And I want to be this kids best friend. I could watch his videos for hours!!! Cracks me up!

Who Knew?
While I was looking for the Quacker video, I found this video of my boyfriend Mike Rowe from "Dirty Jobs". Who knew that this is where his career began?
Poor guy. And to top it off its Precious Moments! Bless his soul.He has come a LONG way!!!
(There is a great video of him singing and trying to sell a karaoke machine also, but it wouldn't let me embed. Surprisingly, he has a pretty nice voice ... and surprisingly I never had a karaoke machine, even though I always secretly wanted one!)
Quack ,Quack
I don't know about you, but I cannot help but stop on QVC when I see that the Quacker Factory is on. It is like a train wreck and I CANNOT look away! Who is this woman? The clothes are hideous and listening to their "girlish banter" gives me a migraine and yet my finger cannot move to the channel button. It is fascinating to me that people would buy this! And then people call in ... and that is just pure entertainment. Today they talked for about 20 minutes about a butterfly that landed on her shoe! What?!! Why?!!! And when people call she asks them "How long have you been quacking?" What does that mean?!!! I can't handle it.
Here's a video for those of you who have never had the pleasure ...

If only life were a movie ...
Why in the movies do they always have a perfect, gorgeous baguette coming out of their grocery bags? And why can they always find great Chinese restaurants that give those fabulous white take out containers? I love those! Sadly, I have tried a lot of Chinese takeout in Utah and none use those containers. It seems like after a bad day there is always intelligent and awe inspiring conversations that take place while eating kung pao out of a cute white container. I may not live in a perfect movie, but tomorrow I'm buying a baguette.

Favorite Part of Today ...
When I got into work this morning I found the following message on my answering machine. (*Names have been changed to protect the innocent)
Fred: Hello. This is Fred. I am calling on behalf of my wife, Dorothy. She had an appointment at your office this morning, but she awoke feeling very nauseous and ill so she is not going to be able to come in.
(muffled noises in the background)
What? Dorothy, do you really want me to tell them that? No, I'm not going to ... um.
Really? (deep sigh) ... um, and she has really bad diarrhea so we are going to have to cancel.
I about fell off my chair. Thanks Fred and Dorothy for making me laugh so hard! (And Dorothy I hope you are feeling better!)

You Know You Live In Utah When ...
1. You get stuck behind a horse and buggy on a main road.
2. You drive behind a van that says "Girls Camp or Bust!"
3. The pawn shop is having a special on saddles.
*All these things happened to me today. I would not lie!*

Life Lessons
To the large group of men standing in the Sonic parking lot and playing a VERY rousing game of "Rock, Paper, Scissors". I am not sure what you were playing for, but it looked very serious and very intense. Thank you for reminding me that many problems can be simply solved with " My rock beats your scissors".
Shout Outs for Today ...
The shout outs go to:
*My boss, Doc , for letting me go home when I wasn't feeling well.
*Tanya, the phlebotomist, for doing such a great job at taking my blood. I didn't even feel it!
* Buddy (I don't know if that's his real name but it fits him) and his crazy brown curly hair. He was REALLY excited to welcome me to Best Buy.
*The oxygen network for airing "Bend It Like Beckham". I had never seen it, and it kept me entertained while setting up my wireless printer. It also reminded me how much I love Bollywood!
It was a good day, but exhausting. I am excited to climb into my bed! Let's hope the insomnia leaves me alone for tonight!

Happiness ...
I do have to say that last week I was watching the Tori Spelling reality show one morning while doing my makeup. How excited was I when I saw my friend Nick from high school on the show. He was scuba diving with Toris' husband! Gotta love those RBV drama kids making something of themselves! Good job Nick!
New Favorites ...
I have many blogs that I love to peruse that aren't necessarily people I know. There are a lot of great blogs out there! Here are two that I am really enjoying right now.
* Your Home Based Mom : I just happened on this a few days ago, and have found that she has some AMAZING recipes on her blog. We made her pita chips for dinner tonight and they were divine. If you are looking for some fun recipes, this is a great site.
*(No)Sex and the City : This is the site of a fellow Mormon who is starring in Grease on Broadway right now. I don't actually know her, but she is witty and funny and has HILARIOUS boyfriend stories. I can always look to her site to make me laugh.
If you have any great sites that you think I would love, pass them on!
Driving Music
Anyone who knows me knows that I take my car singing VERY seriously. When I am in my car I am on a Broadway stage and performing. But when I'm not listening to Broadway I still feel the need to have good tunes that are appropriate for the season. So here is a list of a few of my fav summer tunes for this year. This is what I have been constantly listening to the past few weeks.
1. Viva la Vida by Coldplay : I am obsessed with this song! It gets replayed over and over.
2. Let It Be by Superchick : This song just makes you want to smile and sing.
3. Four Minutes by Madonna and Justin Timberlake: I won't lie. Justins' vintage *NSYNC is still what I prefer, but I do like this song.
4. Say It Again by Marie Digby: I also love her cover of Umbrella. I actually love her entire album. That is a cd that gets played a lot in my car as well.
5. Follow Through by Gavin DeGraw: This is an older one, but I love it.
6. Anyone Else But You by The Moldy Peaches: This song just makes me giggle.
7. Love is Free by Sheryl Crow: A great song
8. I'm Yours by Jason Mraz: I also love Lucky. In fact once again this entire album is one that I listen to over and over again. I have always been a big Mraz fan.
9. Stoney End by Barbara Streisand: It is an oldie, but a goodie. And let's be honest... you can't go wrong with Babs.
10. California Dreamin' by The Mamas and the Papas : How can this not make the summer list? It's a must.
What are your favs? I would love to know so I can add them to my list. Happy summer to one and all!!!
My Dream Job ...
Have you ever seen this guy? I love his show "Ace of Cakes". They make the most amazing things! I would love to have that job, to sit and make crazy, fun, original cakes all day long ... sign me up! (Except for I would have to live in Baltimore and let's be honest ... I've been there and it is not a place I would ever want to live.) I always get excited when a new episode is on my tivo. It is definitely on my list of dream jobs!
